Electrical Motor Protection System Design

Description:

Our Electrical Motor Protection System Design course focuses on detailed technical solutions for the protection of electrical motors, including very large medium-voltage motors (4.16 kV and 13.8 kV). Learn about the development of relay protection systems using EasyPower and ETAP software. Study solutions that use digital protective relays by GE Multilin, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), ABB, Basler AG and Siemens. Practice using thermal models of motors to determine the temperature limit reached during repetitive starts.

The following system is recommended but not a necessity:

• CPU 3th generation i5/i7 or better
• Operating System Windows 7/10 64 bit
• Minimum 50GB of free Hard drive space
• Memory 8GB RAM
• Internet Connection

Learning Outcome:

• Upon successful completion of this course, the students will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:
• Model an electrical system and select the proper digital relays from a manufacturer
• Perform protection coordination for the Electrical Motor
• Create a Protection Relay Setting Sheet
• Implement backup protection as required for large motors
• Coordinate the motor protection with the feeder protection
• Develop ground fault protection study for the Electrical Motor
• Perform Transient Study for Starting Electrical Motor
• Adjust the differential protection R87 to coordinate with overload and transients
